Tips on learning to animate

Tips to help you animate

Easing

Easing is something you need to look out for. Easing is slowing the movements before coming to a complete stop or to build up speed to gain momentum. By applying easing to animated movements it will make the movements look more realistic as nothing that is moving can come to a complete stop.

Here's 2 animation of  a stick figure. the one on the left has no easing while the one on the right does.

Notice how the stick figure in the middle starts off slow to build momentum and then slows down to come to a complete stop

Here is a video i made of me animating a small stick figure animation. See if you can see where i add easing in the movements of the stick figure.

A great way to learn about how to animating something is using videos as referencing

Get a video of anything and just study on how it moves and then try recreate it

Investing in a tablet can help as it is a lot easier to draw with.

This is the tablet i have been using for many years
Wacom Intuos4 which costed me about $80
